(“Joel’s Place”) respects your right to, and concerns about privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in compliance with Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173). This Privacy Policy (“Policy”), together with our Terms of Use, sets out how we collect, use and disclose your personal information when you purchase or avail of our products and/or services, communicate with us through social media, and visit our website.
When we collect personal information
We collect personal information from our customer upon inquiry or subscribing to our mailing list through our website, when availing our services, and by joining our promotions. Personal information may include name, gender, birthday, citizenship, personal status, phone number, email address, home address, payment information (which will be processed by our payment gateways), and possibly other contact information. We may also collect video footage on our properties to protect the rights, property and safety of Joel’s Place, its customers, employees, or the public.

This information is collected to help provide you with a better, faster, safer and personalized experience when using our website. We share personal information to our affiliate, Royal Duty Free Shops, Inc., as well as to third party service providers engaged by us to assist with providing you with our services (including data entry, managing our customer database, contacting you regarding product offerings and promotions, and other customer service). These third parties are under a duty of confidentiality to us, and only permitted to use your personal information in connection with the purposes specified above. They are required to observe the diligence mandated by law in processing your personal information. We may also share aggregate data that does not allow you to be identified with third parties for various purposes (including marketing and advertising), and may use this data in order to better understand your needs and to improve band adapt our products and services.
How we protect your personal information
All reasonable efforts are made to ensure the any personal information held by us is stored in a secure and safe place, and accessed by our authorized employees or authorized Third Parties. It should be noted that no system is impenetrable, and no information provided over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the security of any information that you transmit to us or receive from us over the internet.
Retention Period
Personal information shall only be retained for as long as necessary for the fulfilment of the declared, specified and legitimate purpose. Information documents should be retained for five (5) years from the date of termination of your account or your last transaction date except for certain information that require us to be maintained for regulatory compliance purposes following the retention period prescribed by the government authorities.
Disposal
After expiration of the retention period, Joel’s Place shall immediately destroy or dispose of any file or storage device containing shall be disposed in accordance with its classification and associated disposal guidelines. Proper disposal of personal information should be ensured that data is unreadable (for hardcopy) or irretrievable (for digital records).
Your Data Privacy Rights
Under the DPA, you have the following rights:
1. Right to be Informed. As data subject, you have the right to be informed whether personal data pertaining to you shall be, are being, or have been processed, including the existence of automated decision-making and profiling.
2. Right to Object. You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data, including processing for direct marketing, automated processing or profiling.
3. Right to Access. Upon request of the data subject, you are given the right to reasonable access n the processing of your personal data which may include contents of personal data, the manner of processing, sources where they were obtained, recipients and reason of disclosure, if applicable.
4. Right to Rectification (dispute and/or correct). You have the right to dispute the inaccuracy or error in the personal data and have the personal information processor correct it immediately and accordingly.
5. Right to Data Erasure. As data subject, you also have the right to suspend, withdraw or order the blocking, removal or destruction of his/her personal data from the filing system of Joel’s Place.
6. Right to Damages. As data subject, you have the right to be indemnified for any damages sustained due to such inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, false, unlawfully obtained or unauthorized use of personal data.
7. Right to Data Portability. You have the right to obtain from the personal information processor a copy of such data in an electronic or structured format that is commonly used and allows for further use by the data subject.
8. Right to File a Complaint. As data subject, you have the right to file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission if his/her personal information has been misused, maliciously disclosed, or improperly disposed, or that any of his/her data privacy rights have been violated.
