Holiday Heroes: Trusty Sidekicks to Complement Your Mains

Dec 26, 2024Denisse Audrey Tenorio

Every star needs a trusty sidekick; and during holidays, magnificent roasts and  mouthwatering seafood are the usual ‘star’ of the table. However, even the most scrumptious main dishes need a good sidekick to complete the dining experience.

Today, we’re putting the spotlight on the often overlooked, and sometimes disregarded holiday “sidekicks”. The best part? You can always visit Joel’s Place and order these sides to complement your holiday lunch and dinners!

Appetizer

Appetizers are a great way to let people settle down and prepare for a feast. Serve classic crowd favorites like Chicken Thigh Fillet Skewers, or opt for something healthy to munch on and get grilled vegetables like Asparagus and Zucchini for your guests.

Soups

Holiday dinners are not complete without the perfect starter that sets the mood for the celebration—soup. It’s also the perfect way to prepare your palate for the main course.

If your gatherings are more intimate, cozy, and hearty, some soup options that soothe the soul are Clam Chowder, Shrimp Bisque, Wild Mushroom Soup, and Roasted Pumpkin Soup. For something more festive but healthy, a bowl of Minestrone, or Vegetable and Lentil Soup are your best options.

Salads

You can go many ways about your salad—it’s just a matter of what you’re serving it with. The safest ones are always the classics like Caesar, Potato, Corn, Chicken Macaroni, and Coleslaw. But if you’re up for something nutrient packed, try our Quinoa Salad, made with quinoa, crisp peas, cucumber, olives, savory mushrooms, fragrant rosemary, and onion, all tossed in a flavorful chicken stock and drizzled with a tangy honey lemon vinaigrette.

Sides

Now, onto the pair of your main course, classic sides like Yorkshire Pudding, or Roasted Garlic and Rosemary Mash are guaranteed to delight your guests. If you’re serving up Turkey, you may want a serving of Ciabatta and Sausage Stuffing or Corn Ribs on the side while Creamed Spinach, and Dauphinoise Potatoes are perfect if you're having ribs on the table.
